Republic Of Gamers

I have purchased an ASUS laptop republic of gamers at my local London Drugs.  I have been impressed with ASUS for along time.  Only once did I come across an old ASUS with a problem with the mother board.  What I love is when you plug it in and it works the first time.
Ubuntu does not work out of the bag with this machine.  There is a work around however it is fairly involved.  I just left it as a windows machine and installed virtual box with 16 gigs of ram, who cares.

Windows 10

I have downloaded the windows 10 preview from Microsoft.   I said windows 10, that is not an error.    They did not want a repeat of window 95/98, where people were so angry that 98 was not much more than 95.  Well guess what, windows 8.1/9/--10?, They did make the changes with the start button and other issues, BUT IT IS STILL 8.1   My customers ask me if it is worth getting windows 10 over there windows 7?, my answer is no.  I have one windows 7 computer and three linux computers.  I am happy with that.

Several years ago a friend of mine was complaining to me about Microsoft being bullies.  I told them that okay because they will be on the downward slide soon.  He laughed and said that was impossible.   Microsoft laid off 18 000 people because they can not keep up with the advancements made by other companies.  The problem is they making more money from Samsang in licencing fee than windows and xbox combined.  You heard me!  What do you call that in nature?

Today we have options when it comes to an Operating Systems (IE: Windows 7) for your computer.   You do not need to pay through the nose to run your computers.  I gave Ubuntu to to my wife and she has been happy ever since.  She was saying that it similar to the Microsoft Windows she learned in collage.  Its true you can not run software for windows on Ubuntu/Linux out of the bag.  However there is usually free software  for popular services like email.  This does not change anything online like Facebook or Twitter.

It takes some work on your part to download it and install it on your computer.  There are tutorials online to walk you through it.  There is a lot to think about it and you must remember that installing Ubuntu/linux will erase you entire hard drive.  Any document of pictures will be erased.

Most devices like cameras and printers should work however when ever you change the OS you take chances that some old devices are not supported.
